The Professional Scrum Master training course leaves trainees more knowledgeable and confident in five key areas of Scrum Mastery:
- The fundamentals of Scrum theory and principles;
- The Scrum framework;
- Cross functional self-organising teams;
- Coaching and facilitation;
- Maximising the effectiveness of a Scrum team through the Scrum Master role.
Objectives
Trainees on the Professional Scrum Master course are challenged to think in terms of Scrum and the Scrum principles to better understand what to do when they return to their workplaces.
- Students will have a clear understanding of the mechanics of Scrum and their coherence from the empirical foundation of Scrum;
- Students can act as a Scrum Master for Scrum Teams and stakeholders from an in-depth understanding of servant-leadership;
- Students can effectively start up Scrum or increase its effectiveness if already underway.
Professional Scrum Master Certification
All participants completing the Professional Scrum Master course will receive a password to attempt the Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) certification assessment. PSM class participants who attempt the PSM I assessment within 14 days of receiving their free password and do not score at least 85% will be granted a 2nd attempt at no additional cost. Students of official PSM classes are also entitled to a 40% discount on the PSM II assessment once passing PSM I.
Attendees who attend the Professional Scrum Master (PSM) course, and go on to pass the PSM I certification assessment will receive:
Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) certificate;
Inclusion in the list of Professional Scrum Certificate Holders
The industry-recognised PSM certifications require a challenging minimum passing score which ensures the certifications have true value in the marketplace. If you pass the PSM certifications your name will be posted publicly for colleagues, managers, and potential employers to see.

Professional Scrum Master FAQs
The Professional Scrum Master course (PSM course) is a 2-day foundation Scrum Master training course that trains you on the principles and theory of the Scrum framework. It also teaches the role of the Scrum Master. The PSM course is a combination of instruction and team-based exercises, and trains core awareness of the Scrum and Agile movement.
In order to obtain PSM certification, you need to pass the PSM assessment. The Professional Scrum Master level 1 (PSM 1) assessment is available to anyone who wishes to validate his/her depth of knowledge of Scrum. Taking a course is not required to get PSM certified but PSM course is highly recommended.
Yes! The PSM certification exam is well known to be difficult/challenging. It is hard to pass… indeed in 60 minutes (the time limit for the PSM exam) you must answer 80 multiple choice and true/false questions and get a 85% passing score. This is very high. It therefore requires very good awareness of Scrum, the Scrum framework, the roles, events and artifacts.
Reading the Scrum Guide and taking the Open Assessments alone isn’t typically enough preparation to pass the PSM certification exam. You will need to either attend an official Professional Scrum Master course or go through a process of structured self-learning.
